Cork City was buzzing with excitement last Friday as Society, the much anticipated trendy new night club opened on Oliver Plunkett Street, after weeks of hype through Facebook and sightings of the Society logo projected onto various buildings around Cork City.

The sun was shining by the sea at Arklow Golf Club where soccer legend Paul McGrath hosted his annual Charity Golf Classic in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI) on Friday (16th July 2010).

The earthquake in Haiti was one of the worst natural disasters the world has ever seen and 6 months later (Monday 12th July) the country is, at last, in a state of recovery. Damien Queally from the NGO Plan Ireland has spent the past 3 months in Haiti working with the relief effort there.

A superb 6,500 was raised at last month's huge charity Teddy Bears picnic, hosted by Select Hotels of Ireland, in aid of children's charity Barnardos. Yesterday saw General Manager of Select Hotels, Una Young, presenting the much needed cash to Barnardos Director of Fundraising & Marketing, Ruth Guy, at their Brighter Futures Centre premises in Cork.

It was the perfect day for cycling, on Saturday 3rd July, when over 5,000 cyclists from every county in Ireland, travelled to Killarney with one common goal, to raise as much money as possible for the Radio Kerry Ring of Kerry Cycle.
