Backing Green for Business - Free information events for the food industry

A free seminar on improving business efficiencies will take place in Cork next week to show businesses in the food industry how to boost their profits through resource efficiency. The first of three Resource Efficiency Seminars for the Food Industry, that will be held around the country led by The Green Business Programme in conjunction with Bord Bia and Origin Green, will take place on the morning of Thursday, November 13th in the Kingsley Hotel in Cork. The seminars aim to demonstrate how to cut costs and improve business performance through better management of energy, water and waste commitment to sustainability. Across the board from food producers to food manufacturers to food retailers, sustainability is proving a driving force for many businesses and is becoming an increasing factor why suppliers are chosen for business over one another. These informative seminars, featuring distinguished food industry figures and fascinating case studies will outline and examine the financial and operational benefits of packaging waste prevention, fuel switching, water conservation, waste to energy etc. According to Green Business programme manager James Hogan, the seminars are guaranteed to be a worthwhile investment of time. “We are fortunate to have a great line of speakers. At the Cork event Gabriel Kelly Group EHS manager with Dairygold, will discuss an innovative project for the dairy industry in Ireland where his company now use waste to produce energy through Anaerobic Digestion. The aim of this seminar is for businesses to learn from other businesses who have successfully implemented cleaner production.” Further Resource Efficiency Seminars for the Food Industry will take place on Wednesday, 19th of November in Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise and on the 18th of November in The Gibson Hotel in Dublin.
