Porridge is the order of the day as Sugarcube launch campaign to help the homeless!

Goldilocks and the three bears made a special appearance to launch a special charity porridge campaign, as Sugarcube, one of Cork’s most popular eateries, announced they have teamed up with Focus Ireland to raise vital funds to help those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Sugarcube, located on The South Mall have vowed to donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of their delicious porridge for the month of November directly to the charity which helps raise awareness and reduce homelessness in the city.

Speaking about why they chose to partner up with the charity, well-known entrepreneur and owner of Sugarcube, Ernest Cantillon said “Homelessness is a growing problem in Cork and we want to do what we can in the lead up to Christmas to try and raise awareness for Focus Ireland and the good work that they do. The proceeds of the sale of the porridge for the month of November will go directly to the charity and as the days get colder we hope to sell a lot more porridge and therefore raise a significant amount of money for those with no homes to go to.”

Ger Spillane, Focus Ireland Service Manager in cork noted at the launch, “We are hugely thankful to The Sugarcube for launching this initiative. Cold wet weather makes life even more difficult for anyone who is homeless. In Cork some people are sleeping rough with the majority of people who are homeless staying in emergency accommodation which is unsuitable for long-term living. It is incredibly hard for families and in particular children in these situations and things are getting worse. The Sugarcube is a very popular spot and we hope their generosity will help to further raise awareness of homelessness in Cork and encourage other businesses and individuals to follow suit; either by supporting the initiative and buying their morning porridge at The Sugarcube, or by supporting Focus Ireland directly via our website focusireland.ie.

So whether you like your porridge too hot, too cold or just right pop into Sugarcube on the South Mall for the month of November to treat yourself and help the homeless in the process.
