A Cork law firm is calling on adventure hungry cyclists to sign up for their exciting night-time cycle in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. For a second year, FitzGerald Solicitors will swap law suits for shorts for the 120km charity night cycle – from ‘Dusk ‘til Dawn’ – on Friday, the 10th of July running through to Saturday, 11th of July. Last year’s event was a big success and received enthusiastic reviews from participants. The firm hopes to build on the success of 2014. This year’s Dusk ‘til Dawn’ event is open to all cyclists subject to registration in advance. A contribution of €20 to “Down Syndrome Ireland” is being sought from all participants and all funds raised will go to the Munster branches ofthis incredibly worthy charity. The cycle will see cyclists pedal from Lapps Quay in Cork city to Crosshaven (a distance of 30K) and back twice over the course of one night. Some participants may wish to cycle for a shorter or longer distance and this will be accommodated. It is hoped that over €5000 will be raised for the charity from this exciting endeavour through participants’ contributions and corporate sponsorship. According to Noel Doherty, partner with FitzGerald Solicitors, Lapp’s Quay, this year’s event will be bigger and better than last year’s. “We’re very proud and excited to kick off our Dusk ‘til Dawn night cycleagain this year. The interest and feedback from the event last year exceeded all of our expectations but we expect it to be even better thisyear as we envisage people from all walks of life who are interested in cycling to sign up for our unique event. It’s an innovative, fun and novel challenge that allows you to experience Cork and Cork Harbour in an exciting new way and it’s all in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland - a cause close to our hearts for the incredible work it does to provide support, resources and a voice for those with Down syndrome and their families.” The Dusk ‘till Dawn cycle will kick off from Lapp’s Quay at 11pm on Friday the 10th of July with cyclists watching the sun rise over the River Lee as they power back to the finish at about 6 on Saturday morning. Dusk ‘till Dawn is not a race, participation is the key and no one will be left behind. Cyclists can choose a shorter route or a relay option to make it even more fun.
