Cork Parents have been given ‘a life-line’ with the launch of the first Sherpa Kids out of school hours childcare service in Kinsale and Carrigaline. Sherpa Kids which offers an on site, flexible and affordable, before and after-school childcare service officially launched its partnership with Scoil Naomh Eltin National School, Kinsale on Thursday 3rd of September.

The service gives parents a flexible service that provides peace of mind that your children are looked after safely and securely and avoids the logistical nightmare of school drop-offs and pick-ups as well as the stress of organising childcare out of school hours.

Local couple Teresa and David Bebb, whose background is in finance and accountancy, liked the idea so much they purchased the franchise, making Sherpa Kids services available to all schools in the Kinsale, Carrigaline and Cork localities.

Teresa explained how she was unable to return to work as she couldn’t find an affordable childcare option that would give her the work-life balance that she so desperately needed for her two young children.

“It’s rare to find a job that is child friendly and term-time flexible so the flexibility needs to come from the childcare provision. Working in the childcare sector is a new venture for us but it’s been thoroughly rewarding so far with a lot of positive feedback with parents emailing to say their kids are loving Sherpa Kids. One mother said it had been a lifesaver that has allowed her to stay in employment.

We are delighted for the opportunity to operate Sherpa Kids at Scoil Naomh Eltin and proud to be employing three fulltime staff. We look forward to working with the school to deliver safe, high quality, affordable, flexible and fun before and after school care within the school facilities supporting the pupils, parents and staff.”

According to Susan O’Hanrahan, principal of Scoil Naomh Eltin, partnering with Sherpa Kids to support parents who want to get back to work and those who commute to and from the city each day is something they are delighted to be a part of.

“Sherpa Kids offers an invaluable service to our families where our students are cared for in a safe and welcoming environment. As a parent I understand the importance of a secure and reliable childcare and on behalf on our school population I thank Sherpa Kids most sincerely for choosing our school.”

Demand is growing. Working in parallel Teresa and David also last week celebrated the opening of their 2nd Sherpa Kids service in Carrigaline’s Educate Together National School which will be subject to a further press announcement.
