As part of YuleFest Kilkenny festivities, one of the city’s leading hotels, the Newpark Hotel, is organising a very special charity Christmas Craft Event in aid of Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge.

The event takes place on Saturday, December 9th from 10am to 1pm, and will be an opportunity for people to learn more about making their home even more festive this holiday season, as well as an opportunity to pick up some beautiful handcrafted gifts created by local artisan producers.

Dutch master florist, Lamber de Bie will host an exclusive Wreath Making Workshop, guiding guests through how they can use seasonal foliage and festive colours to create a beautiful wreath that will take pride of place on their front door this Christmas. The Kilkenny-based florist, famous for his work on blogger and style icon Suzanne Jackson’s recent wedding, said “Making your own wreath allows you to add personality and your own unique style to your Christmas decorations. I am looking forward to meeting the guests and sharing my passion for hand-crafting beautiful wreaths with them.”

To keep with the festive feel, guests will also enjoy a Mince Pie Cookery Demonstration with one of the Newpark’s exceptionally skilled pastry chefs, Kim Finnegan, who will share secrets on how to make mouth-watering mince pies to indulge in this holiday season.

All guests will leave Christmas-ready, with their very own handmade wreath and the delicious Newpark Mince Pie recipe.

Mark Dunne, General Manager of the Newpark Hotel said “Christmas is always a special time of year in Kilkenny and here in the Newpark, and even more so with all of the activities that the Yulefest has to offer; and so we are delighted to be adding to the events with our special Christmas Craft Event. Supporting local charities is very important to us, and we are delighted that the proceeds of this event will go to supporting the great work done by the Amber Women’s Refuge.”

Lorraine Corrigan of Amber Kilkenny Women’s Refuge said “We are so grateful to the Newpark Hotel for choosing us as a beneficiary of this wonderful event, which is sure to be of great interest to people from near and far. At the refuge, we offer a comprehensive range of responses to families’ needs on and off site, and our work would not be possible without the support of local businesses like the Newpark.”
