The secret is in the cooking! Cured on the bone, James Whelan Butchers ‘Heritage Cured Ham’ has a distinctive flavour with a hint of smoky hickory undertone and succulent sweetness that comes from cooking on the bone. Covered and cooked in the oven at the low temperature of 140c for five hours, helping to develop the amazing flavours which adds to the delicious succulent mouth watering ham.

Speaking about his grandfather's secret ham recipe and what makes it so unique, Pat Whelan explains, “I discovered our Heritage Cure Ham recipe in my grandfather's old ‘shop day book’ and began recreating it a few years ago. The awards our Heritage Cure Ham has received is a testament to the Whelan family tradition and the amazing flavours that the bone brings through the meat. It has quickly become a favourite not only in our family but with families around Ireland today.”

Each ham is hand-prepared with great care and attention before being individually numbered by James Whelan Butchers, who take great pride and passion to ensure that the highest standards are achieved in every single piece.
