Banishing the Budget Blues at Lisboa Boutique Cork

Banishing the Budget Blues at Lisboa Boutique Cork

08 April 2009

Shoppers in Cork were in for a treat on Wednesday the 8th of April just one day after the details of the Budget became Public when an afternoon of High Fashion, High Tea and Low Prices were available in store all day.Lisboa Boutique,39, Maylor Street, offered a haven of calm for the afternoon where no talk of the recession was allowed in store.

Instead, shoppers were treated to an afternoon of escapism. Models showcased the latest Spring/Summer collection with looks that were a mixture of cheap and cheerful and also some more expensive items for those special occasions. Owner Marie Harty chose labels like Great Plains,Ottitude, Tara Jarmon, Fever and new label Soaked in Luxury which offers luxury knits at very affordable prices.

Martha Mulconry a makeup artist from Sobe Brown was there to demonstrate the latest trends in makeup by Isa Dora and hair stylist Ailsling O'Sullivan from Sobe Brown offered consultations to customers. Siobhan O' Mahony, Area Manager with Clairns, and a regular on Ireland am, was also at the event lending her support and offering free make up trials  to lucky customers.  Sweet treats and afternoon tea were also served to customers. The best part of the day was surely the 20% reduction enjoyed by those looking for guilt free purchases. It was the best antidote possible to the D & G (Doom and Gloom) which seems to be everywhere these days.

Fashion Editor of the Sunday Independent Constance Harris recently reported that "Spending is not in fashion but it's vital for the nation" Constance maintains that a stagnant economy and mindset leads to stagnation of creativity and apathy. She also declares that as consumers we have a responsibility now to influence the market into giving us better quality, better service and that where we get this, we should spend, if we can.

Marie Harty, owner of Lisboa Boutique says: "Today we wanted to give women an escape from the recession. We at Lisboa Boutique are certainly not blind to the recession and we are changing with the times. We are offering some lower priced items in store that are still quirky and suit the "classic with a twist" collection which I have been building over the years. However, women should still celebrate fashion. They still have events to attend like communions, weddings, confirmations and should not be made to feel guilty for spending on these occasions"

A deposit service is now available for customers who then have six weeks to pay off the purchase. A free alteration service is also available for clothes that need tweaking. For those fashionistas who missed this fashion event, fear not. Simply make your way into the store and put your name on the mailing list. The event was such a success that more are planned.  For more information on Lisboa Boutique Cork please call (021)4270032
