THE CORKONIAN KICKS OFF - Fresh New Lifestyle Magazine for Rebels!

19 May 2009

The Corkonian, Cork's new monthly magazine was launched at a truly Cork reception in the Boardwalk Bar & Grill on Friday 15th May by Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheal Martin T.D.  The event was attended by over two hundred guests, including Cork sports stars of past and present and many others from the world of business and politics.

"We have named the magazine The Corkonian because that is what we are - Corkonians". "If you live in Cork city or county, regardless of whether you were born in Cork or not, you are a Corkonian said publisher Michael Mulcahy.  It will be a fresh and pacy magazine with a value for money philosophy that fits with all of our lifestyles right now" he added.

Cork people are well known to be positive and upbeat with a quick sense of humour, even through trying times. The Corkonian magazine is heralded as Cork's answer to keeping a positive outlook in these challenging times.

The May Issue contains an interview with Cork's famous football hero Roy Keane as well as Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons who lives in Kilcoe Castle, West Cork.

Monthly contributors consist of some of Cork's leading personalities including Triona McCarthy, who is well known throughout Ireland as Beauty Editor of the Sunday Independent and one of Ireland's leading Party Queens.  Her column will give a Cork flavour to the international scene and how she keeps it real wherever she goes.  Other contributors include King of Cork airways, Neil Prendeville, whose 96fm show was just announced as the most listened to Local Radio Show in Ireland in the recent JNLR figures.

The Corkonian is part of a suite of Irish magazines published by RSVP MEDIA GROUP who have been publishing magazines since 2000. These include one of Ireland's leading social magazine titles, RSVP, RSVP Business which is edited by Bill Cullen,RSVP Interiors and RSVP Vows.  The Publishing Group who recently moved to State of the Art Premises in Little Island, Cork, also publishes a large range of in-house guest magazines on a contract basis for the hotel sector as well as private client publications.
