2009 Craftbutcher Barbeque Products National Competition

Master Butcher Tim Sheahan from Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry, recently became a National Champion and won four gold medals at the "2009 Craftbutcher Barbeque Products" competition. Judged by the esteemed Irish Guild of Food Writers, the National Champion status was awarded for Tim Shehan's "Lamb Pitchforks"; a tasty cut of lamb rib eye which was cooked in spring thyme and rosemary.

The competition was designed by the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland (ACBI) in order to evaluate the range of products available in butchers' shops; and the idea is to highlight their campaign to ‘Eat out at home'.

With three overall categories in the competition, Tim Sheahan also won gold medals for his Smokey Jokeys Burger, Mid Summer Pork and Lollipop Chops which should be a hit with Kerry palates throughout the summer's barbeque season, weather permitting!

These awards are the culmination of almost 100 years of experience in butchering by Tim Sheahan's family. Tim's passion for his work is obvious from the quality of product and service available at Sheahan Butchers, Glenbeigh & Killarney; where the staff are knowledgeable, the meat speaks for itself and people return again and again to both shops.

We take pride in supporting our local farmers, and the quality of our meat is always consistent at both our facilities"

Tim Sheahan has recently begun to supply some of the leading hotels & restaurants in Kerry and beyond. Undoubtedly, this award will help to cement the excellent reputation of the butchers. Meanwhile, those lucky enough to live near Glenbeigh and Killarney have a quality product on their doorstep.
