New Choice for Kerry Diners - Val's to Open in October

28 September 2009

A much loved Tralee restaurant, Val's on Bridge Street, is to re-open on Thursday 8th October, with one of the most creative and well known Kerry chefs heading up the kitchen, David Norris, along with owners Bobby and Seamus O'Halloran manning front of house.

The new Val's will be in keeping with everything that made the original Val's such a success since it first opened 15 years ago.

Counting down the days to the re-opening, Bobby stated "We are so excited and can't wait to open our doors again.  Ever since word got out, the phone has not stopped ringing, with lots of enquiries coming in already for Christmas."

Head Chef, David Norris, who is recognised as one of the most creative chefs in the county, is just putting the final touches to the new menus.  He gave a hint as to what delights await Kerry diners.  "With the times we are in everyone is getting back to basics, but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing.  There will be a strong emphasis on using distinctive Irish flavours and recipes, but all with a special twist.  Fish will feature greatly, as well as a range of vegetarian dishes and I promise that you will not get a better Pan-fried Sirloin Steak in the County!"

Produce will be sourced from the best local suppliers, from the Fresh Mussels from Fenit used in the Mussels and Smoked Bacon in Filo Pastry dish, served with melted Brie and a Mustard Mayonnaise, to even a Barry's Bap to top off the Homemade Half-Pounder, served with Mature Cheddar Cheese and Red Onion, with David's very own twist on Homemade Chips.

Seamus added "The full menu will be available in the bar as well, for people looking for a quick main course or starter.  We decided not to introduce any Early Bird specials, but instead to offer great value all night long.  Our menus will feature the best of what Kerry has to offer but at prices that will make dining out not as big a drain on the pocket as it has become.  All the menus are complimented by an extensive wine list with wines starting at €18.

The team are also busy putting the final touches to the special packages for parties in the run up to Christmas.  Igor Krno, one of the country's leading Mixologists will also be returning behind the bar at Val's where the best Cocktails will be served and he will be bringing back Val's classic Mojito, with fresh mint and limes - something that used be a big draw with our customers.

Val's with David Norris will be serving food from 5.30pm to 10pm 4 nights a week from Wednesday to Saturday. Bookings are now being taken on (066) 7121559 and vouchers can also be purchased by calling in or phoning.  You can also check out the new menus and latest news and be the first to hear of events and special offers by signing up to become a Fan of Val's on facebook on www.facebook.com
