Women in Business with Savvy Style!

05 March 2010

It was another booked out event for Network Cork, on Wednesday 3rd March where well over 60 members and guests attended a special presentation by Joan Cashman on how we can all be much more Savvy about Style and how we should all dress to suit our individual style. Joan is the inspiration behind The Colour and Image Academy – a unique centre that specialises in all aspects of makeup and image consultancy. The event was the third meeting of the year for Network Cork, the organisation for women in business, professions and the arts and President Sandra Maher of Inspire Financial opened the proceedings by introducing Joan “Joan has had a long and distinguished career being the previous head of Colour Me Beautiful in Ireland. She has trained and coached more than 12,000 people and helped even more women and men with their corporate and personal image. In business we all need that extra edge to get ahead and how we look says so much about us and our businesses.  Tonight we are so thrilled to have Joan here tonight and she is going to help us all define our own individual style and how we can make it work even better for us.”Joan started the night by asking everyone to fill out a Personality Questionnaire to determine what kind of style personality each person had. The results categorised people into different categories such as Romantic, Classic, Preppy and Casual.Joan then went on to show how each style would work, using this season’s trends and colours, showcasing samples from Network Member’s businesses, including one of the sponsors of the event,  Lisboa of Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork and Element Boutique in Bandon. She also gave plenty of tips on what trends will be coming in over the next few months. Joan also spoke of the importance of accessories to any look and used examples with products from Keanes Jewellers and Design Works in Winthrop Arcade in Cork who also were exhibiting a sample of their products.  Other Members exhibiting on the night was Pamela Morrissey from one of Cork’s leading Hair Salons Sobe Browne and Eve’s Chocolates both of whom are members of Network. The Exhibition Opportunity at Network Meetings is open to all Members and is just one of the promotional opportunities available to members.  Another opportunity at Meetings is the “Soapbox”, where three members each month are given an opportunity to promote their business to the group with a 3 minute brief on their business.  Members are finding this a great opportunity to promote their businesses and are reporting that it leads to strong business leads and even sales on the night. The next Network Cork meeting will be held on Wednesday the 7th April at the Maryborough House Hotel at 6.15pm.  The theme of the meeting will be ‘Enable Success & Balance: Stress-Less & Ree-Laax'  a presentation which will be given by Network Member Julie Silfverberg of Success Partners. The Meeting is free to all members and guests are very welcome at a nominal fee of €25 per person.
