Select Hotels of Ireland Announce Membership Growth

11 May 2010

Today at a reception in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Select Hotels of Ireland introduced three new member hotels to Ireland's biggest independent hospitality marketing group with a collection of 24 hotels throughout Ireland.  The new hotel members are three of Ireland's most well loved hotels with a true tradition of Irish hospitality at its finest and are Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Trident Hotel, Kinsale and The County Arms Hotel, Birr.

Select Hotels of Ireland was established 10 years ago as a marketing platform for independently owned hotels, all with a recognised rich tradition of Irish Hospitality and premium 3 and 4 star establishments.  The group offers independent hotels that fit a strict criteria, strength in numbers, giving hotels the opportunity to promote in much wider markets, which would be prohibitive to a standalone business.

Along with representation at major international trade/travel fairs, increased web presence and new routes to international and home markets, Select Hotels of Ireland offers members a wide range of activities with a proven track record of generating real business for member hotels.  An example would be a CRM project in 2009, where customers were encouraged to make a return visit to a member hotel with a complimentary night's stay in the first quarter of 2010.  This initiative contributed to the group trebling the number of bed nights in the first quarter of this year and doubling the turnover for member hotels.

Una Young, GM of Select Hotels of Ireland stated "We have a number of initiatives that offer our members real benefits and the bottom line is that their sales increase as a result of the membership.  We are seeing referrals and leads being generated through the partnership of all the hotels.  Loyalty for the group is being built up and we are finding guests of one hotel now using other hotels within the group.  An average of 1,500 to 2,000 people are staying at our hotels each night and we are using this strength in numbers to promote the hotels as a group, benefiting each individual hotel in turn."

"The diversity of locations is also a key benefit.  Each hotel has something different to offer and guests like this, with no two hotels being the same." Una added.

To build on the success to date Select Hotels of Ireland have a number of new initiatives that are being rolled out over the next few weeks and months.  For example a new campaign with Tesco's in the UK, which makes the group the only Irish Hotel Group to participate in the Tesco Club Card Loyalty Programme in the UK, giving the group access to over 14 million Tesco Shoppers.  Select Hotels of Ireland will also be announcing a new consumer Loyalty Scheme and also a nationwide Charity Event in June which is aimed at generating revenue for a well known Children's Charity.
