Stylish Start to Spring Racing Season

03 March 2008

Some of the most stylish names in Munster have joined forces to celebrate Cork's first Spring Race Meeting of the Year.  On Easter Sunday, 23rd March, girls throughout Munster are being invited to dust off their "glad rags and hand bags" for Ladies Day at Cork Racecourse, Mallow.

Newmarket Motors, Authorised Volkswagen Dealers, decided to acknowledge the great fashion tradition that is associated around Racing in Ireland.  Annette Browne of Newmarket Motors, who is behind the organisation of the event, gave her reasons for the association:  "Newmarket Motors already has a strong tie with the fashion industry and of course with the Racing fraternity, so we saw this as an excellent way to combine the two at Cork Racecourse. We are all looking forward to a great day of racing and fashion, and with the prizes that are on offer I am sure there will be great fun and friendly competition on the day."

Joining Annette on the Judging Panel will be an esteemed list of Celebrity Judges who are no strangers to the fashion or racing scenes.  Munster's own fashion icon, Celia Holman Lee will be joined by RSVP Social Editor, Olivia O'Sullivan, who will also be reporting on the event for the next edition of the Magazine.    "Blessed  among women" will be the man of the moment, TG4 Weather Man Dáithí O'Sé - no stranger to style having recently been voted one of the most stylish men in Ireland!

The judging panel will be completed by Mary Kelly Wilson from Cork Racecourse.  Mary is the newly appointed Sales and Marketing Manager at Cork Racecourse, and she joins at a very exciting time for the Racecourse as they are just starting work on new Corporate Facilities with an investment of €XXX, which will be completed in time for the Autumn Racing Season.

The coveted prize for Best Dressed will be a Five Star Break to Paris for two, flying direct from Cork compliments of Aer Lingus.  The winner will be staying in the Renaissance Paris Vendome Hotel compliments of Maison de la France.  There will also be a prize for Best Hat, of a specially commissioned Hat which is being sponsored by Norma O'Donoghue of Whispers Boutique Tralee.  Norma's headpieces have featured on Xposé and Ireland am, and her designs have been race day winners for the past three years.

The prizes are not just for fashion conscious girls on Easter Sunday!  There is a special prize for the Most Stylish Family, of a week's break at one of Ireland's top family Holiday Resorts, Banna Beach Holiday Village, in Kerry, staying in one of their four star holiday homes.

To be in with a chance to win one of these great prizes simply put on your Glad Rags and come to the first Spring Race Meeting of the Year on Easter Sunday at Cork Race Course, Mallow and enjoy a great day out of fashion and of course great racing.  Family tickets are available at the reduced rate of €36.  The first race is at 2pm, with judging taking place at approximately 4pm.  For further information on this great day of fashion check out www.newmarketmotors.ie or see the March edition of RSVP Magazine.
