A Pink Ribbon Walk for Action Breast Cancer will leave from Fernhill House Hotel and Gardens in Clonakilty on Bank Holiday Monday the 25th October. People are being encouraged to walk with friends, families and loved ones and to wear pink on the day. Registration will take place at the hotel at 11am where they can make a suggested donation of €10 or make a personal donation to the charity.The walk is four miles around Clonakilty and walkers will be treated to a "Pink Reception" at the hotel afterwards where they will be served sweet treats sicj as pink champagne, ice-cream and delicious pink cupcakes. Theresa O' Neill, proprietor of Fernhill House Hotel and Gardens says "Last year over five hundred people did this walk and raised a staggering €9,000 for Action Breast Cancer. The atmosphere at the hotel afterwards was a wonderful experience and people really enjoyed the pink reception. I am a breast cancer survivor and the support given by Action Breast Cancer to me was incredible. The support of my husband Michael, my family and friends is something I won't ever forget and I wanted, in some small way, to give something back to the charity, so that it can continue the work that it does in helping women with cancer"Therese Hayes and Liz O' Sullivan are also organisers of this charity walk. Therese, another breast cancer survivor, has been involved with the charity for ten years. She says "For a small town we are constantly amazed by the generosity of people towards Action Breast Cancer. It is not only the support that is given financially, without which Action Breast Cancer could not offer the huge level of support services that it does, but it is the generosity of spirit and the good will towards the cause. We chose a walk because we want to promote a sense of wellbeing, people of all ages can do this walk and enjoy themselves. I’m not sure who the first person was to coin that phrase about Simon Harris our new Taoiseach but it certainly is “stuck” onto him now. When the phrase is used do you think it is me...
