14 March 2008

"Passion for Fashion", organised by the Killarney Outlet Centre and the Kerry Branch of Cystic Fibrosis was an outstanding success. This Fashion Event for all the Family took place in Killarney Outlet Centre on Thursday 13th March and a huge crowd attended, and helped raise funds for the "Build4Life" project.

"Passion for Fashion" featured a Catwalk Fashion Show with some very special guest models! Popular Kerry Football stars, Darren O'Sullivan and Eoin Brosnan, strutted their stuff on the catwalk, to the delight of onlookers. The fashion show, co-ordinated by top Dublin Model Agency, BScene, showcased a kaleidoscope of Spring & Summer themes from the various stores within the Centre - from formal to sportswear - lingerie to street wear, top brands with a great mixture of accessories to complete every look.  There was something for all the family and at unbelievable value - so it proved to be a real crowd pleaser.  Privilege Card Members were be able be use their cards on the night in participating stores to get even further discounts.

As part of the fund-raising activities on the night, 12 girls from two local schools, Killarney Community College and St. Brigid's Presentation Convent, took to the catwalk and gave the professional models a run for their money! The crowd voted for their favourite by making and small donation to the Charity; and the overall winner was Rebecca Nagle from Killarney Community College. Lucky Rebecca received a €150 Shopping voucher courtesy of Killarney Outlet Centre, a goodie bag of from Kennelly's Pharmacy, and a skin care gift set from Sean Taaffe Hair & Beauty.

MC was Town Mayor, Niall O'Callaghen, and he entertained the crowd throughout the evening; while the fundraising team from Cystic Fibrosis hosted a wine reception in association with Mustang Sallys, and were busy selling tickets for the Charity Raffle to raise funds for the "Build 4 Life" project. SPIN South West SPINIS were there giving out stickers and pens to all the kids who attended. Sean Taaffe Hair & Beauty provided hair styling for the show; while Kennelly's Pharmacy provided the make up looks for the fashion show.

"Passion for Fashion" was held to help the Kerry Branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association reach their target of raising over €1 million to develop Ireland's first dedicated CF treatment unit within Cork University Hospital.  In order to help raise these vital funds, the "Build 4 Life" team in the final stages of building two houses in Castleisland, and proceeds from the Passion for Fashion Event will go toward this.  The houses will be auctioned in the near future, with all funds going towards this vital Treatment Unit.  Further information on this project can be found on www.build4life.net.

Paul Sherry, Killarney Outlet Centre Manager said: "The Centre has been venue for many fundraising activities involving local charities, and this event was one of our biggest yet!  The Cystic Fibrosis Charity is close to many people's hearts in Kerry, and we at the Centre would particularly like to thank Elaine Doyle & Marie Carroll O'Sullivan who are very active fundraisers for this charity, and put so much hard work into organising "Passion for Fashion". It is through their enthusiasm and that of the CF team that we raised such a fantastic amount of money for the worthy cause. A huge thank you to all other partners for the event, it is thanks to them that events like this are so successful"
