Select Hotels of Ireland welcomes the Dingle Skellig Hotel to the Group

20 October 2011

The beautiful four star Dingle Skellig Hotel rests on the shores of Dingle Bay, where the delightful contrast of the peninsula’s soaring mountains, long sandy beaches and blue Atlantic waters combine to form some of the most magnificent scenery in Ireland.

Families flock to the hotel which boats The Fungi Kids Club and Skellig Crèche, providing an exciting programme of entertainment, not to mention the 17 m deck level swimming pool and kiddies pool. The hotel is ideally situated for dolphin watching, as Dingle’s most famous resident, Fungi, is always willing to oblige! Importantly for older children and teens, there are X Boxes and PlayStations aplenty, and a den where teens can go and hang out, play games or just meet new friends.

The award winning Coastguard Conservatory Restaurant is famous for its fresh catch menu well known for its superb cuisine specialising in freshly caught seafood.

The Hotel has 73 luxurious bedrooms as well as the option of 40 Superior Rooms, Executive Suites and Presidential Suites. The views from the hotel are tranquil, and perfect for an afternoon reading by the fire, watching the boats go by in Dingle Bay. With golf, fishing and the stunning Peninsula Spa for relaxing and unwinding treatments, the hotel really has something for the whole family. Graham Fitzgerald, General Manager of Skellig Hotel said “ We have an amazing offering here at Dingle Skellig, and we are really pleased to be joining the Select Group which has such high calibre members. I really feel we will bring something different to the Group, and I am excited to be involved”.

Una Young, GM of Select Hotels of Ireland said “We are delighted to welcome the Dingle Skellig to the Select Group. Each of our hotels has something really special to offer and we are excited to introduce the Dingle Skellig, as it is such a fantastic family hotel in such stunning surroundings” she concluded.

The hotel was the proud recipient of the prestigious Georgina Campbell Family Hotel of the Year 2007 Award, due in no small part to its fantastic facilities for families.

Georgina Campbell said of the hotel “There is a special art to providing the framework for successful family holidays in an hotel, and it lies firstly in ensuring that the different needs of both adults and children are catered for and – most importantly – that adult guests without children in tow are treated with due consideration. They have all this down to a fine art at the Dingle Skellig”

Select Hotels of Ireland have a collection of 26 hotels throughout Ireland and was established 10 years ago as a marketing platform for independently owned hotels, all with a recognised rich tradition of Irish Hospitality and premium 3 and 4 star establishments.  The group offers independent hotels that fit a strict criteria, strength in numbers, giving hotels the opportunity to promote in much wider markets, which would be prohibitive to a standalone business.
