Results of Café Bar Deli Christmas Party Survey Revealed and it's Good News for City Centre Traders… and for Bosses!

01 December 2011

In planning their Christmas Party menus, Café Bar Deli carried out a survey to see what Cork people really think of and want from work Christmas parties, and some interesting results were revealed.

Avril Fox, Manager at Café Bar Deli, who put the survey together stated "We are the venue of choice for many groups looking for a great Christmas party destination and this year we decided to get feedback on what people are looking for from their Christmas party to see if we could add even more to their dining experience at Café Bar Deli."

A staggering 94% of survey respondents said they would prefer to have their party in a city centre location which is good news for city traders, with just 6% happy to go elsewhere in the county, and surprisingly no one wanting to venture further afield - that long bus journey with colleagues is a "no no" by all accounts.

It looks like weekends throughout December will be busy for city centre restaurants, with 65% of survey respondents indicating a weekend night is their preferred choice over a week night for their work Christmas party - obviously Christmas parties and early mornings don't mix!

Café Bar Deli's survey revealed that it is a toss-up between an organised Christmas Party Night and a meal out in a restaurant for people's ideal Christmas party, with only 6% of respondents wanting to celebrate the party season with just drinks. Diners seem to be moving away from the traditional Christmas dinner idea, with 82% of respondents indicating they would like dinner to consist something "a bit different" to the traditional turkey and ham dinner, once a year is enough for this.

Live music tops the list for entertainment at the work Christmas party, with 52% opting for this. Other popular choices are discos, comedians and magicians; with just one respondent indicating they would like to see a hypnotist!

A very positive result, despite the economic downturn, is that companies are very generous with almost 55% of Christmas parties being funded totally by the company. Perhaps, as a result of this generosity, almost ¾ of respondents are happy for their boss to attend - only 2 respondents said they don't want their boss to attend - have they something to hide or are they just trying to avoid to Christmas party cringes?

The main message from Café Bar Deli's research was that the Christmas party is alive and well, and seems to be recession proof!  Most see it as a great way to bond with work colleagues, leaving the usual stress and strain of work at their desk top for one night, and enjoying a fun night with their work colleagues.
