MOONLIGHTING Lights Up Build 4 Life Houses

10 April 2008

Cork Cystic Fibrosis Week will take place from 21st to 26th April 2008 and is being organised by Build 4 Life, which was founded by friends and family of Cystic Fibrosis Patients in Cork and Kerry.  Cork Cystic Fibrosis Week is a  designated week when organisations, schools, businesses, clubs and individuals are encouraged to organise a fund raising event or make a donation to to raise vital funds to develop Ireland's first dedicated CF treatment unit within Cork University Hospital and to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.

Build 4 Life have already come up with a novel way of raising money to fundraise by building two houses in the upmarket Clonough development in Castleisland, Co. Kerry, where the proceeds from the sale of the houses will go towards raising €1 million to develop a specialised Cystic Fibrosis ward in CUH.

Since the launch of Build 4 Life businesses throughout Munster have come on board to assist with products and services for the houses, ensuring that 100% of the revenue from the houses will go directly to the Build 4 Life fund. Joe Browne, Chairman of Build 4 Life and the driving force behind the project stated "We are delighted with the standard of the houses and the quality of the development in which they are situated.  We targeted many businesses who donated products and time to the building of the houses.  I'd like to thank these companies and the developers of Clonough for their generous donations.  When we sell the houses we will be over half way to meeting our target which is fantastic."

One such business is Bandon based MOONLIGHTING, who are specialists in lighting, furniture, mirrors and accessories.  MOONLIGHTING sponsored the lighting for the two Build 4 Life houses in Castleisland, Co. Kerry.  Rita O'Driscoll, who, with her husband Frank, runs MOONLIGHTING, stated "We felt that this was a wonderful project which aims to develop a specialised CF unit at CUH, Cork. Recent coverage on the Joe Duffy Show on RTE highlighted just how bad the situation is in Ireland regarding CF facilities, and the Build 4 Life project is an opportunity to change this at CUH, Cork.   MOONLIGHTING is proud to be part of such a wonderful fundraiser and congratulates Build 4 Life."

Further help is needed and Build 4 Life are appealing to other businesses to come on board and assist with this worthy cause during the month of April, so that there is increased awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and that the Charity reaches it's goal to create the very first dedicated CF treatment unit in Ireland, based in Cork University Hospital.
