KILLARNEY OUTLET CENTRE COOK OFF FINALISTS GO HEAD TO HEAD

13 February 2012

There was some serious salivating going on at the Killarney Outlet Centre on the weekend as the two finalists from the much anticipated cookery competition went head to head in an exciting live Cook Off event!

The Cook Off was being organised by the Killarney Outlet Centre, in association with The Malton Hotel to Celebrate Valentine’s Day and to encourage male shoppers to think about cooking for their loved one’s this Valentine’s Day.

Live from the Mall at the Killarney Outlet Centre, Executive Chef John O’Leary, from The Malton, was on hand at the event to help the selected two finalists Steven Brosnan, from the Nike Factory Store, and Colm Casey, Kerry Outdoor Sports, cook a delicious serving of Mustard Crusted Noisettes of Pork Fillet, with Black Pudding and Fennel Galette, and Cider Jelly with Apple Cream.

Of course, no meal would be complete without that all important desert as John also showed the boys and the gathered audience how to make a scrumptious Strawberry and Passion Fruit Eton Mess.

Commenting on the day, John was very impressed with the two finalists, “Both guys will definitely be cooking up some hot romance this Valentine’s for their special someone as they took to the task very well. They obviously just needed a bit of guidance to help bring out their hidden talent and I hope they feel a lot more confident in the kitchen now!”

General Manager at the Killarney Outlet Centre, Paul Sherry, was delighted with the mouth watering aromas circulating around the centre as shoppers flocked to the Cookery Demo, and also each received their very own recipe sheet to attempt themselves at home afterwards.

Paul stated, “At the Killarney Outlet Centre we are always looking for novel activities and events at the Centre, to entertain visitors to the Centre. It’s not just about the great value and range of stores, but we want to create a fun and different shopping experience, by giving something more.  It was great seeing the boys take part and the visitors on Saturday really enjoyed it as well and went away with great hints and tips from one of the best Chefs in the country.  I’m delighted they became joint winners as it was extremely hard to pick between the two contestants. John made the dish look effortless to make so I’m sure there will be a few Neven Maguire’s walking around Killarney during the week!”

Both Steven Brosnan and Colm Casey each won a wonderful dinner for two in the Garden Room Restaurant at the award winning four star Malton Hotel, and a lovely selection of items from the Malton’s Pantry range of food products.
