BioMarin to Host Biotechnology Career Day in Cork

BioMarin Manufacturing Ireland Limited has announced details of a recruitment drive and its first ever Biotechnology Career Day to be held at their Shanbally facility on Wednesday 12th September 2012. The event follows the June announcement that the global biotech's expansion into Ireland expects to create 100 plus jobs in the 2013-2015 timeframe.

BioMarin, which recently celebrated its first anniversary of joining the Cork biotech community, develops and commercializes therapeutic options to treat rare diseases. Through its extensive expertise in research, development, regulatory affairs and manufacturing, the company strives to provide access to treatment to patients around the world suffering from rare diseases.

BioMarin's Biotechnology Career Day will offer potential candidates the opportunity to learn about BioMarin and prospective roles, as well as meet the hiring managers and core team members.

The Career Day will be divided into four sessions to maximize the opportunities for attendance.   Each session will start with an introduction to BioMarin and will be followed by short introductory meetings with hiring managers, where job seekers will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about BioMarin and the future roles.

The sessions will be as follows:

  • 09:00 - 11:00
  • 12:00 - 14:00
  • 15:00 - 17:00
  • 18:00 - 20:30

Speaking ahead of the Career Day, Dr. Robert Baffi, Executive Vice President, Technical Operations, said "This is a very exciting time for BioMarin, and indeed for the Cork region. We anticipate that the initial positions will open later this year, the first phase of the significant recruitment drive at our Cork facility, and the upcoming Career Day will give job seekers a good insight in to the types of roles that we are planning to create."

Over the course of its recruitment drive, BioMarin expects to create positions in the areas of:

  1. Manufacturing/ Supply Chain/ Warehouse
  2. Manufacturing Sciences/ Technical Services
  3. Quality Assurance/ Validation
  4. Quality Control
  5. Information Technology
  6. Facilities Services/ Engineering
  7. Environmental, Health & Safety
  8. Finance
