VISION EXPRESS SEARCHES FOR IRELAND’S STAR PUPIL

11 October 2012

Vision Express has announced details of a national photographic competition to find a new children’s face for its next in store campaign and to highlight the importance of eye healthcare in children.

The ‘Search for a Star Pupil’ competition will take place on November 2nd and 3rd in Vision Express stores throughout the country and is open to children between the ages of 3 and 12. The aim of the competition is to drive greater awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups for children.

The competition is being run in conjunction with the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) who will be taking the professional photographs in store and each child will receive their own photograph in print as a keepsake of their entry.

The winner of the Vision Express ‘Search for a Star Pupil’ promotion will receive a trip for two adults and two children to Disneyland, Paris, a pair of designer children’s frames and their photograph will be displayed in each of the eight Vision Express stores throughout the country.

Entrants are advised to contact their local Vision Express store in advance of the event to book their child in for their photo shoot. All store contact details can be found at www.visionexpress.ie. Entry guidelines as are follows:

1.     Each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will have to sign a consent form allowing the child to enter

2.    Each child will be given a pair of Vision Express non-prescription frames to wear for the photograph. If they already wear glasses they can use their own frames for the shot

3.    They must then strike their best pose for the in-house IPPA photographer!

4.    Entrants will also be asked to tell the competition representative why they believe they are Ireland’s Star Pupil.

Vision Express optometrists will be present on the day to advise parents about the importance of regular eye examinations and what signs of eye problems to watch out for in their children.

Commenting on the event, Damian Daly, Regional Manager for Vision Express Ireland said “This is a fun competition that we hope will highlight the importance of taking care of your eyes, particularly in children. We want to show kids that eye tests can be fun and wearing glasses is actually really cool! We do encourage entrants to book in for their photograph at their local store in advance to secure their place in the competition and to avoid long queues on the day”.
