A ‘Soup-er’ Success!

A ‘Soup-er’ Success!

10 December 2012

Just Food is delighted to announce that a fantastic €1,916 was raised at their Just Food’s ‘Soup-er’ Friday event.

In aid of local charity Cork Penny Dinners, the event took place on Friday the 30th of November where a pop-up Just Food Soup Stand was located outside Brown Thomas, selling soup to passers-by. 50c from every Just Food soup pot sold in Cork on the day was also donated to Cork Penny Dinners.

Deirdre Hilliard, Owner of Just Food, was thrilled with the overall amount raised. Deirdre says “The amount of support we received on the day was overwhelming. Not only from the public but Cork businesses too! I would especially like to thank Gino’s, McDonalds and O'Flynn's Gourmet Sausage Grill on Winthrop Street- heroes who came to our rescue heating up the soup, when we had a slight problem with our generator at the start of the event! The amount we raised makes it all worthwhile and we will definitely make sure this becomes a regular event on the charity calendar.”

Cork Penny Dinners PRO, Florence Harrison said “We are very grateful to all the efforts from Just Food, especially since the budget was quite harsh this year, and as we are expecting the numbers of people we feed to increase yet again.”
