John Deere Pro Am launched at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club - 22nd & 23rd July 2008

Following on from the successful inaugural event last year, dates have just been announced for this year's Killarney Golf & Fishing Club Pro Am, which is being organised by the Club and sponsored by Seamus Weldon, John Deere Dealers for Munster.  The 36 Hole competition will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd July 2008 on two of the three Championship Courses at the Club, Killeen and Lackabane.

Present at today's launch was Michael McCumiskey, Irish Region Secretary of the PGA.  "We are all looking forward to another two great days of golf on two of Killarney's three magnificent courses.  Our members always enjoy playing Killarney and this competition offers everyone a splendid golf and social occasion.  We are delighted to include such challenging and beautiful courses on our schedule again in 2008."

For Maurice O'Meara, General Manager of Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, it will be the first Pro Am that he has organised at the Club "Last year I was lucky enough to compete in the competition and this year I will be experiencing the competition from a different perspective.  Interest in the competition has been really strong, with many teams already booked from last year.   It will also be a great opportunity for all the competitors to see our new facilities, including the new Pro Shop and Custom Club Fitting Room which have just opened.  The Club now has facilities to match any of the leading Clubs in Europe and I look forward to showing the new improvements to everyone attending the competition."

This is the second year that the event is sponsored by Seamus Weldon, John Deere Dealers for Munster.  Michael Weldon, Sales Manager stated at today's launch "The event was a great success for us as sponsors last year and when asked by the Club to participate again this year, we did not hesitate.  It is a great opportunity for us to work with one of the leading Golf Clubs in the Country and we are all really looking forward to two great days of golf."
