Actons Hotel Kinsale Re-Opens, Creating 40 New Full Time Jobs

Following a substantial renovation, Actons of Kinsale, members of Select Hotels Ireland, is re-opening just in time for St Patrick’s Day celebrations, welcoming the public on Thursday 14th March 2013.

 

300 people were employed during the renovation works, and once the hotel re-opens on March 14th 40 new full time jobs will have been created.

 

Actons’ re-opening will play a significant role in Kinsale’s tourism industry as the hotel will be concentrating on both the domestic and international leisure and business markets. 

 

Sarah Dallas, Sales Manager, at Actons of Kinsale said “we are very positive for the coming season with high levels of enquiries and bookings from the leisure, meetings and events and wedding markets.”  

 

When the hotel reopens it will have 74 ensuite bedrooms, all day dinning in Sidney’s Bar & Brassiere.  The Kinsale Suite main function room will cater for up to 250 people and will be the ideal venue for a wedding.

 

Actons of Kinsale is the longest established hotel in Kinsale, operating since 1946. The property was the original dwelling of the Acton family who had settled in Kinsale in 1860 and developed a number of businesses in the town.  

 

Speaking at the open house event held on Thursday, Breda Keane, General Manager at Actons of Kinsale  said “After seven long months, we are all really looking forward to restoring Actons to its former glory, in the heart of Kinsale and welcoming both new guests to the hotel along with returning visitors.”

 

Breda went on to say “We wanted to preserve the hotel’s natural history while introducing a ‘New England’ vibe to complement the town’s quaint air of antiquity. Sidney’s Bar and Brasserie when open will have a menu featuring the best of West Cork produce, created by our Head Chef John O’Connell. Our main function room will now cater for up to 250 people making it possible for guests wishing to have a large wedding.”
