New

New "Shopping Street" for Killarney

21 August 2008

Killarney is fast becoming one of The Fashion & Beauty Mecca's of the South West of Ireland.  The town has always had a strong reputation for fashion retail; is the Spa Capital of Europe and is the location for the very first Outlet Centre in Ireland, the Killarney Outlet Centre.  Also, in the past few months the move by Marks & Spencer to locate in the town has been a strong vote of confidence, as well as a draw for new shoppers to Killarney.

It is now a true retail destination, whether it is guests staying in the wide range of quality hotels, shopping in the extensive choice of high end boutiques and art galleries, day trippers looking for bargains in the Killarney Outlet Centre and of course Kerry people who look for a shopping experience that isn't the typical parade of shops that can be found in any high street in Ireland.

With this in mind, the Killarney Outlet Centre, which already attracts over 2 million visitors each year, is looking to expand its proposition for shoppers by offering a new shopping experience on the first floor of the Centre.  A new street, for Killarney, which offers destination shopping at its best - a "Carnaby Street" concept with an eclectic mix of stores - all on one floor.

Paul Sherry, Centre Manager stated "In the past few months, I have been talking to many business people who are feeling under pressure with the combination of high street rents mixed with the economic downturn, making their businesses unsustainable.  We want to turn this to our advantage and to the advantage of the retailer,  offering viable rents, which can make doing business in these current times much more sustainable to the retailer and lead to better prices for the customer."

The Centre is sending out a call to Destination Shopping Stores - Bridal, Designer Boutiques, Hair and Beauty Salons, Photographic Studios, Interiors, Crèche, Nail Bars etc.  Businesses that don't necessarily need a high street location and that would thrive in the busy Centre.  The offering is extremely flexible and attractive.  In addition to this the new street would be supported by a major national/regional Advertising and PR campaign, that one store on its own could never afford.

Paul added "It is the perfect time for retailers to look at the value there is to be had from our retail proposition at the moment.  We have audited figures of over 2 million visitors each year and it is our aim to fill upstairs with good quality retail options which will keep these 2 million shopping in store for longer. As well as this, with many retailers cutting down on promotions, we plan to increase our activities and attract even more shoppers to Killarney offering even greater choice and value and a truly different shopping experience."
