Strong Turnout as Newmarket Motors Hosts XPENG Launch Event Featuring Ireland’s Leading EV Expert, Derek Reilly

Newmarket Motors welcomed customers, local businesses, community partners and EV enthusiasts last night to the official launch of XPENG, the premium electric-vehicle brand now available at the Cork dealership – the first XPENG dealer outside of Dublin.

The event, held at XPENG Newmarket Cork’s’ Main Street showroom, featured a special appearance by Derek Reilly – Ireland’s leading voice on electric vehicles and founder of NEVO, the country’s No.1 EV YouTube channel – who delivered an engaging presentation on the future of electric mobility.

This was followed by a lively Q&A session (hosted brilliantly by local Newmarket MC Donal O’Sullivan), where guests asked practical questions of Derek and fellow guest, Jack Walsh from ePower, about charging infrastructure, running costs, government grants and the realities of switching to electric in Munster.

Highlights of the evening included the unveiling of the all new XPENG G6 Coupe, which features upgraded interiors and significant performance improvements (84 feature changes in total). In addition, the event also featured a special community moment in which Newmarket Motors presented Newmarket XPENG-sponsored jerseys to Newmarket GAA, reflecting the dealership’s ongoing support for local groups and organisations.

To mark XPENG’s arrival, Newmarket Motors is also hosting a 261 XPENG Open Weekend, which continues until Saturday, 29th November (9am to 6pm). Visitors can test-drive the XPENG G6, explore its technology first-hand and speak directly with the dealership team about the exclusive incentives available during the weekend.

Speaking at the event, Newmarket Motors Dealer Principal Annette Browne described the launch as a significant moment for the business, saying: “Bringing XPENG to Newmarket is a milestone for our dealership. Our customers expect choice, innovation, quality and value, and XPENG delivers on them all. We were thrilled to welcome Derek Reilly to share his insights with our guests – there is huge interest across Cork and Munster in understanding what the transition to electric really means for everyday drivers.”

She added: “Community has always been at the heart of Newmarket Motors, so it was a pleasure to celebrate this launch alongside our customers, neighbours and partners, and to support Newmarket GAA with the presentation of their new XPENG-sponsored jerseys. I also want to highlight the contribution of our local newmarket MC, Donal O’Sullivan, who played a blinder at the event.’

XPENG, launched in Ireland earlier this year, brings advanced software, premium design and exceptional driving technology to the Irish EV market. The XPENG G6, an all-electric, ultra-smart 4-door coupé SUV,  is the first model available through Newmarket Motors and has already attracted strong interest thanks to its stand-out styling, intelligent features and highly competitive pricing.

The XPENG launch follows a period of significant growth and investment for Newmarket Motors. Earlier this autumn, the dealership was appointed as a main dealer for Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles, adding one of the world’s most respected commercial brands to its portfolio, which now includes XPENG, Volkswagen passenger cars and Volkswagen Light commercial vehicles.

With a nearly 50-year track record, multiple industry awards and a strong reputation for customer care, Newmarket Motors continues to evolve while remaining firmly rooted in the communities it serves.
