Cyclists from all over Munster will be participating in a very special Charity Cycle which takes place on Saturday 25th September 2010. The 100km cycle will be taking place in the counties of Tipperary, Limerick and Clare and is being held to raise much needed funds for improved facilities for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients at MWRH. In particular it aims to provide a CF out-patient clinic and 9 high spec ensuite inpatient rooms for CF patients, from Limerick, Tipperary and Clare who are serviced by the MWRH.
The Charity Cycle is being organised by TLC4CF, a fundraising initiative by the Tipperary, Limerick and Clare branches of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland (CFAI) to help improve services, facilities and in turn improve lives for all people living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in the Mid West Region.
The Cycle will start and finish from Garryowen Rugby Club in Limerick, with Registration from 9am and the cycle starts at 10am on the 25th September. The route will be as follows:- Limerick to Nenagh, to Portroe, Ballina, Killaloe and back into Limerick via Clonlara.
Event Organiser and Committee Member of TLC4CF, Caitriona Hayes stated “As well as helping us with vital fundraising, it will be a really great day’s cycling, taking in such a scenic route with some challenges along the way. We are hoping that participants will raise a minimum of €50 per person which will go directly into improving the lives of young people living with CF in Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. No one will be turned away for sponsorship less than this, but we find that people are really digging deep when it comes to such a worthy local charity.”
Catriona and the organising team have organised two rest stops along the route where refreshments will be provided. There is also secure parking, shower facilities and hot food awaiting participants at the end of the cycle at Garryowen Rugby Club.
