Cork’s Business Community and FitzGerald Solicitors combine pedal power for annual Dusk ‘til Dawn Charity Cycle Friday, July 7th

12 July 2017

Cork City’s business community will be in a spin as it joins FitzGerald Solicitors for their fourth annual Dusk ‘til Dawn charity cycle this Friday, July 7th at 11 pm.

FitzGerald Solicitors are the driving force behind the overnight cycling fundraiser in aid of the Munster branches of Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) that covers 180km over three stages, from Cork City to Crosshaven via Jacob’s Island and Passage West, along Cork’s network of riverside cycle paths.

The cycling convoy will leave the Clayton Hotel on Lapp’s Quay at 11pm, with the second leg expected to set off at about 1.30am and the third at 4am. Cyclists can take part in as many, or all, of the legs over the course of the night, or take part in a team relay.

Dusk ‘til Dawn is the brainchild of Noel Doherty,  who when he’s not practicing law as a Partner with FitzGerald Solicitors, is a keen cyclist who takes part in numerous charity cycles throughout the year including Tour de Munster, Ring of Kerry and this Friday’s Dusk ‘til Dawn.

According to Noel Doherty, “The benefits of taking part in Dusk ‘til Dawn are manifold – there is the joy and the buzz of cycling at night,  the camaraderie with your fellow travellers as your come and go along the cycle paths by the river and meet for coffee on the boardwalk in the dead of night , and the satisfaction of knowing your involvement has helped raised money for a really good cause.”

Coordinator of Services for the Cork branch of Down Syndrome Ireland Karen O’Sullivan said “We’re thrilled that for the past four years Noel Doherty and the team behind Dusk ‘til Dawn have chosen Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) as their nominated charity. DSI is 97% funded by voluntary donations, so charity events like Dusk ‘til Dawn are invaluable in helping us provide services and support to our members in Munster. Noel, and all at FitzGerald Solicitors are a great support to the Cork branch of Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) and we really appreciate their generosity.  We are also appreciate all the cyclists who sign up and cycle in aid of DSI”

Cyclists wishing to take part in Dusk ‘til Dawn can register at 10.30pm on Friday, July 7th outside the Clayton Hotel on Lapps Quay and a charitable contribution of €25 per cyclist is requested.  Cyclists must wear a helmet, and ensure their front and back lights are working. Gorgeous food and hot drinks will be available to sustain the participants throughout the night.
