Christmas is a time for giving and helping others and this December 28th and January 4th, Winterval on Ice and Solas Cancer Support Centre are doing just that.
Supporting the Solas Cancer Support Centre, Winterval on Ice will host two dedicated ice skating sessions which will see all proceeds go directly to the centre which supports people affected by cancer as well as their families and carers in Waterford and across the South East.
The two sessions will take place on December 28th at 5.30pm and January 4th at 5.30pm at the rink on Bolton Street and are open to the public to attend.
Commenting ahead of the sessions, Tracy McDaid, Manager of the Solas Cancer Support Centre said, “We are really looking forward to the Solas Ice Skating sessions and would like to thank the team at Winterval on Ice for this fantastic opportunity and showing their support for Solas. We hope as many people as possible can join us on December 28th and January 4th for lots of fun with family and friends.”
Established in 1999, the Solas Cancer Support Centre provides support services including counselling, relaxation therapies and group support services. They provide those affected by cancer, their families and carers with a safe place; a place to talk things over, to relax and express emotions.
Peter Burke, Manager of Winterval on Ice said, “Unfortunately, cancer affects most people, whether it’s personally or through a loved one which is extremely difficult for so many people. The Solas Cancer Care Centre does truly amazing work and we’re very lucky here in the South East to have this service. We’re delighted to be able to do what we can to support Solas here at Winterval on Ice and we look forward to welcoming everyone on December 28th & January 4th.”
All levels of experience are catered for on the rink from beginners to advanced skaters with a large main rink and a separate smaller rink with experienced staff on hand.
