Irish startup Access Earth launches investment campaign with Spark Crowdfunding

14 October 2021

Access Earth has launched its first public investment campaign with Spark Crowdfunding. The Irish-based startup aims to raise between €150,000 to €300,000 to help grow its team, secure future revenue opportunities, and continue to build the world’s largest accessibility database.

The Spark Crowdfunding platform gives more than 7,000 private investors exclusive access to investment opportunities in exciting startup businesses on a commission-free basis. Year-to-date, innovative high growth startup companies have received more than €6 million of investment backing from Spark investors. Access Earth provides another exciting opportunity.

The company has been making waves in the accessible technology space since placing in prestigious competitions such as the Microsoft Imagine Cup and the ENACTUS Irish National Competition. Founded in 2015, it has grown into a highly technical and multi-purpose platform.

The company began as the brainchild of CEO and co-founder Matt McCann from his own personal experiences living with cerebral palsy. Matt grew frustrated at the difficulties he encountered while trying to find reliable and up-to-date accessibility information and was determined to help improve the experience for everyone, regardless of their accessibility needs. Since then, Matt has grown his team and expanded the Access Earth database to include over 110,000 locations worldwide and now features offerings available for local businesses, hospitals, universities, and large stadiums.

Access Earth CEO, Matt McCann explained the mission behind Access Earth:

“We all know how tough pandemic lockdowns were for everybody and how much we missed not being able to go to our favourite places. For millions of people with disabilities, access to everyday business and social activities is a lifelong challenge.   Access Earth wants to change that which is why we have been building the world’s largest mapping and review database with key partners so that those living with disabilities can access towns, community areas, parking, sports clubs and stadia safely and with confidence.”

It is estimated that 15% of the world’s population is registered as having a disability, with Europe alone being home to 135 million disabled people. Individuals spend on average about eight years or 11.5% of their life span living with disabilities. This means accessibility issues can affect each of us at some stage of our lives. Access Earth believes there is a potential market of over €96 million to target in its European focus areas over the next four years and encourages those interested to view the Access Earth funding campaign page and consider investing in this worthwhile enterprise.

Chris Burge, CEO of Spark Crowdfunding added:

“We are delighted to be able to offer our investors an opportunity to invest in Access Earth. The mission of the Access Earth team should resonate with many people. Spark has a broad spread of investors and investment amounts can be as small as just €100 with tax rebates of 40% available under the Enterprise Ireland EIIS scheme.”
