The Secrets of PR Uncovered! South Cork Enterprise Board launches Practical Public Relations Course for Business Owners "How to Generate Free Publicity"

20 April 2010

These days business owners and managers need every possible trick in the book to survive and thrive in very challenging times.  County Enterprise Boards are playing a pivotal support to businesses across Ireland by providing a wide range of services to assisting them through the new economic environment.  One of the resources is subsidised Training Courses and South Cork Enterprise Board, together with one of Munster's leading PR Firms, Fuzion Communications, have just announced a five week course for businesses who would like to learn more about the whole area of Public Relations (PR) and how to make PR work, cost effectively for them.

The course, "How to generate free PR", will run every Tuesday evening from 4th May for five weeks and will enable each participant to develop a clear Public Relations Plan that can be implemented cost effectively in-house.

Sean O'Sullivan, CEO South Cork Enterprise Board stated "The brief for devising this course was to make it as practical as possible for business owners and managers to obtain a clear understanding of the PR processes and how PR could generate increased business for them at a low cost."

Deirdre Waldron, co-owner Fuzion Communications added "We often receive calls from businesses looking for PR support, but who may not have the budget at the moment to hire a PR company.  What the course will do is give business owners/managers a taste of how PR is achieved and how they can generate this for themselves.  Hopefully within time, when the business benefits from the PR, they will see the value in the process and may even go on to hire us - leaving them with more time to run their successful businesses!"

The five week course, which is heavily subsidised by South Cork Enterprise Board, will give participants a full tool kit to get the most from PR, both traditional and on-line.  Deirdre added "As well as the traditional processes, we will be encouraging everyone to consider some on-line presence for their business.  With tools such as twitter, facebook and LinkedIn it has never been so inexpensive for businesses to get their message out to existing and potential customers, with little or no cost."

The course includes one to one consultancy with Fuzion built in to the programme and the subsidised cost is just €100 per participant.  It will run each Tuesday from 6.30pm to 9pm from 4th May to 1st June.

County Enterprise Boards are funded by the Irish Government and part financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund.  For further information or to book your place on the course visit  For further information on Fuzion Communications visit
