Roses let off some steam!

Roses let off some steam!

19 August 2010

This year's Rose of Tralee finalists got to let off some steam yesterday before this weekend's big event, with a fun Camogie lesson from All-Ireland champions Offaly on their visit to the County Arms Hotel, Birr.

Captain Michaela Morkan, and her Offaly team mates, put the Roses through their paces with an introduction to the ancient sport.

The first All-Ireland final was played in Birr in 1888 and the County Arms Hotel, members of Select Hotels of Ireland, are the official sponsor of Offaly Camogie.

Sales & Marketing Manager Peter Loughnane, was delighted to welcome the Roses of Tralee:  "It's a great day for the County Arms Hotel to welcome the Roses of Tralee as both the Roses and the Offaly Camogie players are positive role models for women everywhere and we're immensely proud to be associated with both groups."

Some of the Camogie talent among the Roses was very impressive as Peter goes on to State: "There were some naturals out there today and honourable mentions go to Laois Rose Bernadette Ryan and Sunderland Rose Noreen Feeney. We wish everyone the best of luck at the festival and you never know, we could see a few professional Camogie players in the future!"

Each Rose was presented with a sliotar to remember their visit and hopefully fine tune their skills on their return home.
