BALLYGARRY HOUSE HOTEL & SPA UNVEILS 'THE PAVILION'

30 May 2011

There was live music, face painting, games, delicious barbequed food and a fantastic atmosphere at the official launch of Kerry's newest venue today.

The Pavilion @ Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa in Tralee is a 5,000 square foot, purpose built, all weather reception facility, comprising of an outdoor bar, bandstand and heated sun terrace.

The venue is designed to cater for private parties, summer barbecues, pre and post wedding celebrations, Christmas parties, christenings and any type of corporate event.  Its contemporary and fresh design offers style, comfort and modern luxury and panoramic views of the Kerry Mountains.

The Pavilion’s 'piece de resistance' is a custom made 9.5 foot gas fired grill barbeque, which can cater for up to 250 guests within an hour..Designed and created by hand by local stainless steel company Allbrite Engineering, the barbeque firmly confirms The Pavilion as the ultimate all weather venue!

The €1m investment is the latest expansion at Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa since current owner Padraig McGillicuddy took over as General Manager of the hotel in 2003. It is the single largest investment in the hotel since 2006, when the hotel added  a block of bedrooms, doubling the surrounding lands for car parking spaces and new gardens; doubling the hotel's kitchens and most significantly, adding the award winning Nádúr Spa the first ever such facility in the Tralee area. The Hotel has also evolved in the areas of social media and technology having just launched its first iphone app which is free to download and includes both hotel and local area information.

The Pavilion's main building has a large glass roof feature allowing natural light in abundance while large glazed windows and doors allow for an exceptionally bright building. Two open fireplaces, high ceilings and chandeliers help to retain the warm, country house atmosphere that the hotel is renowned for.

The bar opens in to the main room and out to the Sunset Terrace and The Courtyard which are covered and heated for cooler winter days. The Sunset Terrace is in the garden, overlooking the large water feature and the stunning Slieve Mish Mountains.

Commenting at the official launch Padraig said “We are delighted to officially launch the Pavilion at Ballygarry, which is an exciting new venue for Tralee and Kerry. It is the first all-weather facility of its kind in the region which can cater for any type of event and we look forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to the hotel in the coming months to experience the venue for themselves.

The development, like previous developments at the hotel was a family project, guided by various members of the McGillicuddy family. The interior design was the expertise of Padraig's aunt, Helen Casey, while his uncles, engineer Tadhg McGillicuddy and architect Sean McGillicuddy also contributed to the overall design of the venue. Padraig's brother in law Niall Healy was the Quantity Surveyor on the project.

In addition, the building contractors for the project at the request of hotel management, included a number who had previously held their wedding receptions at the hotel, confirming that indeed business deserves business.

The Pavilion firmly establishes Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa as the Jewel in the Crown of Kerry hospitality. Set amidst 6 acres of mature gardens, at the foot of the Kerry Mountains, the venue is elegant and stylishly decorated, offering the complete warm, country house experience.
