"They can't ask so we're asking for them" Animal Care Society (Cork) appeals to public at their base in Wm.O' Brien Storage for donations to help animals in distress during Animal Care Week.

25 November 2008

The Animal Care Society (Cork) has appealed to the public to make a €5.00 donation online so that they may continue the work they began in 2000 in providing Care to all animals in Cork City and County during Animal Care Week. The organisation is staffed by volunteers who give their time and effort to saving animals who have been mistreated or even abandoned. Since the foundation of the organisation they have re-homed 6,000 animals and they also operate a Help Line Service which was set up in order to deal with animal welfare matters.Terry Lane Treasurer/Fundraiser of the Animal Care Society Cork says;

"Each person who donates to the cause online will receive a mini finger puppet of a dog to say thanks. The money received will go towards Vet bills which will help to save the lives of many animals that have been cruelly mistreated. In the New Year we hope to operate a school's programme promoting pet responsibility in primary schools. We will advise children on how animals should be treated and what they should do if they see a distressed animal"

Wm. O'Brien Storage in Bishopstown has given the charity a free storage unit which has become invaluable as a base from which to work from. The unit stores the charity's fundraising buckets and t-shirts as well as paperwork in a safe and secure room to which the charity has its own lock and key and personal pin code. As the charity is run by volunteers it can be difficult to man an actual office, however, the unit in Bishopstown works well for the charity as Wm.O'Brien Storage can accept deliveries on behalf of their clients and make sure that they are safely delivered to their storage units. The client can then collect their belongings at their own convenience. This is an invaluable service to any small company, or to a charity.
