A Cut Above the Rest: Two Kerry Stylists Recognised at The Irish Hairdressing Championships

20 March 2012

Sean Taaffe Hair & Beauty stylists, Karah Connolly and Susan Barry, who are based in the ST2 salon, were amongst the winners at the coveted Irish Hairdressing Championships 2012, which saw 300 hairdressers from across Ireland battle it out by creating more than 500 different looks at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin on Sunday 4th March.

The nationwide prestigious awards are the benchmark of talent in the hairdressing industry and Karah from Castleisland walked away with 2nd place in the ‘Senior Creative Fantasy' category, while Susan from Kanturk came 4th in the ‘Mens Freestyle' category.

The Irish Hairdressing Championships are the definitive awards for the Irish hairdressing business and demonstrate the creative and artistic work of Irish hair styling professionals for these two stylists to do so well is a wonderful achievement. The awards are the benchmark for Irish hairdressing standards and with 13 styling categories ranging from ‘Cut and Colour' to the elaborate ‘Creative Fantasy Award' where Karah shone, visitors to the Championships were wowed as the finest talent in the country displayed their skill and creativity.

Sean Taaffe also expressed his delight and respect for his two stylists saying "The Irish Hairdressing Championships are one of the premier awards events in the Irish hairdressing industry so we were delighted to have two of our top stylists do so well. There are about 2,300 hair salons in Ireland employing close to 15,000 people and these Championships really demonstrate the creative and artistic work of our styling professionals.  I'm extremely proud of Susan and Karah, and indeed our whole team who continuously strive for excellence in what they do and I'm thrilled they received the recognition they deserve for all their hard work."

Greg Clarke, President of the Irish Hairdressers' Federation said, "The Championships are an opportunity for our top professionals to show off their ability, originality and flair and be recognised alongside some of Ireland's most talented industry names. Irish winners have also gone on to prove themselves time and time again at an international level including Raimondas Pasternackis, winner of the World Best Men's Stylist of the Year Award 2011, and Louise Jordan who has won ten European medals."
