Last night Teresa and Michael O' Neil, owners of the family run Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty, officially launched their new bedroom development at a magical evening held on the premise. Local businesses, suppliers and friends were invited to attend the mulled wine and mince pie reception held in the welcoming foyer of the hotel which has been in Clonaklity for over forty years. Harpist Nancy Long and her daughter Miriam lent a festive atmosphere to the occasion playing some wonderful Christmas carols and favourite tunes. Magician Liam Sheehan, who famously entertained Michael Jackson’s children while they were in Cork, performed a plethora of mind boggling tricks on guests.

Even though many of the cards raise badly needed funds for charity it is still a very expensive operation and very wasteful of natural resources. This year four Irish charities, Aware, The Jack and Jill Foundation, The Marie Keating Foundation and Plan Ireland, have joined forces to offer Irish businesses an alternative to posting cards.

Cycling legend Sean Kelly reconfirmed his commitment to the Charity Cycle "Tour de Munster" last Saturday at a dinner he attended with the cyclists who took part in this year's 600km charity cycle around Munster. This year's tour managed to raise over 85,000 for the Chernobyl Children's Project International for their Chernobyl Heart Appeal. This means that 85 children will benefit from life saving operations which will correct heart defects caused by the repercussions of the Chernobyl disaster.Sean Kelly has been involved with the tour for the past three years.
