‘Best Of Three’ Over 100k Investment into New Sporting Facility in South Dublin Hotel

Nestled in the picturesque South Dublin suburb of Killiney, Fitzpatrick Castle hotel is delighted to reveal the addition of a third state-of-the-art padel court on its hotel grounds.

The expansion, which is due for completion in June 2024, comes with the continued success of the two existing courts, combined with an increased demand for court bookings. Requiring an investment of €100K, the expansion reflects the family-run hotel’s unwavering commitment to providing an unique leisure experience for both its guests, and the local community.

Originating in Mexico, Padel Tennis has gained worldwide traction embraced by sports icons such as Andy Murray, Christano Ronaldo and David Beckham, as well as film stars and amateurs worldwide. Football manager Jurgen Klopp became so capitavted with the game during a trip to Tenerife that he had a court installed at the Liverpool training ground, describing it as “Besides football, the best game I’ve ever played.”

Combining elements of tennis and squash, this up and coming sport has gained traction across all ages and skill levels due to its accessibility and social appeal. The distinctive features of Padel, including glass walls, shorter court dimensions, and the use of solid walls as part of the game, differentiate Padel as a riveting and dynamic sport.

Mark Scott-Lennon, Director at Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, speaking on the Padel Court expansion said: “The feedback from our guests and neighbours has been incredible. We are delighted to continue to facilitate the growth of the Irish Padel community with the addition of a third court. The courts enable our guests and neighbours to socialise and keep active within idyllic surroundings, whilst enhancing our product offering.”

Joseph Scott-Lennon, Director at Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, also commented on the expansion, saying: “The courts have proven to be a  huge success. For seasoned players, or those seeking alternative experiences, the expansion reinforces our commitment to providing our guests with a redefining leisure experience within our stunning castle grounds.”

In addition to the expansion of the courts, the castle has also announced the extension of their Terrace Bar and Café. With panoramic views over Dublin bay, this alfresco dining experience is the perfect spot to indulge in a cocktail or light bite after a round of padel, bringing a taste of the Mexican Riviera to Killiney.
