Fairytale “Sunshine” Wedding Extravaganza at Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens: the Jewel in the Heart of West Cork

Fairytale

Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens was the location of the tremendously successful Fairytale Wedding Extravaganza yesterday, Sunday 27th March in Clonakilty. Owners Teresa and Michael O’ Neill, along with their son Neil, once again hosted a Wedding Fayre which encapsulated the best that West Cork and the stunning family-run hotel has to offer every couple on their wedding day.

Guests came from far and wide to the Wedding Fayre which promises something for every couple. There were inspiring wedding ideas from over twenty exhibitors at this ultimate bridal experience, the exhibitors having been specifically chosen by the team at Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens for their expertise and abilities to make the wedding day a truly unique experience for the brides, grooms and their families.

Brides-to-be had a taste of some exceptional bridal gowns by the well-established Brides of Eire Bridal Boutique who have been instrumental in helping brides choose their gowns for several years. Accessories were catered for by a number of boutiques including Madison Boutique and The Hat Shop. For those looking for a professional to capture the memories of their special day, couples had a range of options from professional photographers Michael Kietz, Karo Photography and Michael Heaney Video Production. All wedding options were catered for with a fantastic range of high-quality suppliers, all of whom are endorsed by the Wedding Team at Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens. On arrival, guests were greeted with Sunshine and Champagne as well as Canapés devised by head chef Barry Sheridan in the beautiful foyer. The wonderful atmosphere was accentuated by a musical medley delivered by talented harpists Nancy and Miriam Long. Guests experienced the lush landscaped gardens with personal tours by Michael O’Neill who drove guests from the main hotel through the picturesque landscape on the Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens golf-cart.

There were personalised tours of the unique Bridal Suite and the bedrooms in the recently renovated wing of the hotel and Wedding Coordinator Caroline Hayes was on hand to meet couples and talk them through what will be the most special day of their lives. Guests also had the opportunity to experience the romantic atmosphere as well as the impeccable standards that have been set at this wonderful hotel.

The hotel is situated in its own landscaped gardens, complete with a permanent, silk lined, chandelier lit marquee which has been finished to the highest specifications. The Garden Marquee and beautifully-landscaped gardens were designed with weddings specifically in mind and have wonderful features such as a gazebo, water fountain and a heart shaped flower bed.

The gardens were open to the public on the day of the wedding fayre and guests sipped champagne in the unseasonably sunny weather in the beautifully appointed marquee which was furnished in the same manner as on the day of a wedding.

Wedding Coordinator Caroline Hayes commented on the Wedding Fayre saying, “There was a tremendous crowd at this year’s event and it was fantastic to see so much interest in what Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens has to offer. We have been overseeing weddings at Fernhill House Hotel for over thirty years and although different trends come and go, the friendly atmosphere at Fernhill remains the same as does our attention to detail. Weddings are what we do best and we still look forward to every wedding in Fernhill with a genuine feeling of excitement. The best part of my job is that every couple is different and is seeking a different experience on their Big Day. Here at Fernhill House Hotel, we can offer them something truly unique. It is our ambition to fulfil their dreams and make their wedding day a memory they will treasure for the rest of their lives.”

Commenting on the timing of the Fairytale Wedding Extravaganza, Manager Neil O’Neill stated “The start of the year is a popular time for hotels to hold wedding events. We deliberately kept ours till later so that the guests could enjoy the fabulous gardens, which surround the garden marquee as they are starting to come alive for another season”.
