Fernhill House Hotel launch their new bedroom development at a Magical Festive Evening

Last night Teresa and Michael O’ Neil, owners of the family run Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty, officially launched their new bedroom development at a magical evening held on the premise. Local businesses, suppliers and friends were invited to attend the mulled wine and mince pie reception held in the welcoming foyer of the hotel which has been in Clonaklity for over forty years. Harpist Nancy Long and her daughter Miriam lent a festive atmosphere to the occasion playing some wonderful Christmas carols and favourite tunes. Magician Liam Sheehan, who famously entertained Michael Jackson’s children while they were in Cork, performed a plethora of mind boggling tricks on guests.

Guests were then invited to attend an interactive magic show by Liam in the welcoming Kilgarriffe room. Finally, guests were shown the new wing of the building which was built by John Deasy of DC construction.  They were invited to enter a competition to name the new Bridal Suite which has been described as a luxurious, decadent and inviting room designed with a Moroccan theme.

The new developments at Fernhill House Hotel that have been in progress for the past two years come at a difficult time for the hospitality industry in Ireland. During a positive speech Teresa said;”2009 has been a very challenging year for everyone in business. We’ve all had to work harder and offer better value for money; we’ve had to support each other, not just in the hospitality industry but in all areas of business. We’ve been making some exciting changes at the hotel over the past number of years, with a view to improving the facilities we offer our customers. There’s always a little bit of magic in the air at Fernhill and that magic is made by us together with you, our suppliers, customers and friends and we would like to thank you all for your support over the past year”

Special tribute was also given to Teresa’s son Neil who is one of the managers at the hotel, wedding coordinator Karen Buchanan, Head chef Dee Rettali, who was a driving force behind the design of the new developments, and all of the staff at Fernhill House Hotel. It is clear that the changes in Fernhill House Hotel are positive ones that will stand to the hotel in the coming months and years. Plans are now underway for a Wedding fair which will happen on Sunday March 28th.
