Fleetwood Unveils New Research for International Women’s Day Celebrating Women’s Growing Confidence in Home Improvement

Fleetwood, Ireland’s leading paint manufacturer, has seen a significant rise in women across Ireland confidently leading DIY and home improvement projects. New research conducted with Opinions.ie reveals that in the past year, 72% of adult women in Ireland have personally carried out DIY and or home improvement tasks.
More than half (52%), have taken on multiple projects in the past year, highlighting that this is not a passing trend but a sustained change in behaviour. The findings reflect a broader shift in how home improvement is approached, with more women taking the lead in decisions, design and execution within their homes.
With greater access to online tutorials, social media inspiration and practical advice, alongside rising professional call out costs, many are choosing to take projects into their own hands. This International Women’s Day, Fleetwood is proud to recognise this momentum and celebrate the growing confidence shaping homes across Ireland.

In response to this evolving landscape, Fleetwood has launched its latest campaign, Weekend Projects. Designed for real homes and real schedules, the series focuses on one simple idea: one weekend, one space, one transformation.

Aileen Hogan, Fleetwood’s Weekend Projects Ambassador, shares her thoughts on women’s involvement in DIY across Ireland, saying “When it comes to DIY, particularly for women who may not have been encouraged to try it before, I see the biggest barriers being a lack of confidence and not knowing exactly where to start. My goal is to show people that they absolutely can do it, by teaching the basics and ensuring everyone has the skills to take on any DIY and home improvement project themselves. Weekend Projects is the perfect place to start, if you’re looking to take on a new project. It’s so achievable and the results will speak for itself.”

Derek Byrne, Marketing Manager at Fleetwood, commented on the survey results, saying: “At Fleetwood, we are passionate about this shift in mindset when tackling DIY in the home. We have noticed more and more women getting involved in the redecoration process in recent years and it’s something that we are welcoming with open arms. Painting is for everyone, it’s just about having the right tools and help along the way. We encourage everyone to get involved in home renovations and Fleetwood has everything you need to decorate with confidence. “

Across Ireland, women are increasingly leading on colour direction, collaborating with designers and managing projects independently. Fleetwood is proud to support this continued evolution in home improvement and to reflect the diversity of people shaping homes today.

With step-by-step video guidance, a clear shopping list, and practical advice from the team, Fleetwood wants to ensure that everyone can confidently tackle a refresh in just two days, with Weekend Projects.

Whether you’re brightening a hallway, updating woodwork, refreshing a room, or taking on a makeover, Weekend Projects is designed to be achievable, affordable and genuinely worth the effort.
