High Street Books raises vital funds for Down Syndrome Ireland

High Street Books welcomed hundreds of customers today across their three stores, Douglas Court Shopping Centre, High Street Centre Wilton and Capwell Road, as they raised money for Down Syndrome Ireland. The well known school book provider hosted a fun filled day in their headquarters in Douglas Court Shopping Centre with face painters and fun and games to celebrate the occasion.

Staff in each of three stores encouraged customers to dig deep to raise as much money as possible for the charity. Collection buckets were at every till and High Street Books have committed to donating a percentage of sales from all purple stationery sold on the day in the hope of raising over €500 for the Down Syndrome Ireland and its Munster branch.

Speaking at the event, Manager of the High Street Books, Laura Murphy said “We are delighted to support such a worthy cause. This year Down Syndrome Ireland have been campaigning to raise much needed funds to go towards educational supports and so, with the industry we are in, we thought it was a great fit for us and myself and the team across all three stores jumped at the chance at hosting today’s event. We have pulled together all of our purple stationery stock to coincide with Down Syndrome Ireland’s logo and will donate a percentage of these sales to the overall total raised”.

High Street Books has been in the heart of the cork community for almost two decades and specialises in the schoolbook and educational sector. Known for its progressive nature, in April 2013, High Street Books opened a dedicated Teacher Resource Centre to offer a comprehensive educational support service to teachers.
