Nádúr Spa in Ballygarry House Hotel situated just outside picturesque setting of Tralee, Co. Kerry has won ‘Best Indigenous Irish Treatment’ for its Honey and Irish Whiskey Salted Body Scrub at this year’s Irish Spa Awards.

The category of Best Indigenous Irish Treatment encourages and inspires development and innovation by awarding an original new treatment designed by a spa. Nádúr also came highly commended in the Green Spa award.

Nádúr’s Honey and Irish Whiskey Salted Body Scrub was selected as an overall winner by a panel of industry experts who chose from a selection of new treatments, each of which were required to have at least three Irish ingredients and provide beauty and/or wellness benefits.

This treatment is unique to Nádúr Spa as it was developed specifically for the Spa by Gina Groves, Spa Manager and Emma Garry, Head Therapist. The treatment consists of 100% natural ingredients including organic honey and beeswax from Gina’s own apiary.

The benefits of the scrub can be attributed to the blend of the ingredients; honey is a natural antiseptic and extracts grime from the skin’s pores while removing dead skin cells, the whiskey also has antiseptic properties and is excellent for acne breakouts. Dead Sea Salt is rich in potassium which regulates the moisture level of the skin and relieves muscular aches and pains. For added indulgence and benefit, the beeswax which is used in the sweet honey body balm at is a hydrating ingredient in its own right and provides an amazing protective barrier on the skin.

Gina Groves is an avid bee-keeper and has been Spa Manager at Nádúr since it opened almost 9 years ago: “We are absolutely thrilled that Nádúr has won such a prestigious award. To have won it for the best indigenous category is an extra bonus. The word Nádúr is the Irish for nature and we feel we have stayed true to that theory in both the development of this treatment and in how our spa is run. We love to promote and use Irish products and treatments and this award follows the Spa’s ethos of natural local inspiration both from the therapists and products. As the premier Kerry hotel based on the Wild Atlantic Way, we feel its also very fitting!”

The Honey and Irish Whiskey Salted Body Scrub treatment lasts for 30 minutes and features a layer of warm, sweet honey body balm applied to the full body that melts to form a protective hydrating barrier for the skin. This is followed by Nádúr’s unique honey and Irish whiskey salt scrub. A refreshing hot shower completes the treatment that leaves the body with exceptionally hydrated skin. The perfect body scrub for Irish skin, especially in winter!
