Children in St. Anne’s Children’s Ward at the Mercy University Hospital were treated to stories from fairy tale favourites including Little Red Riding Hood and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz on World Book Night, thanks to the generous donation of a collection of children’s books from Vibes & Scribes.

Vibes & Scribes donated the collection of children’s books, which were presented to the ward on Saturday, April 23rd, in support of the Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal. It is vital that when a child is ill, that they and their parents and siblings have access to the best care, facilities and support. The Mercy has a 28 bed paediatrics ward that caters for both medical and surgical care, and the Mercy Hospital Foundation, through support and donations such as this one from the popular Cork City bookstore, constantly strives to ensure that every child has a comfortable stay at The Mercy. Companies and individuals interested in donating and fundraising for the Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal can find out more at www.mercyfundraising.ie.

Speaking about their donation, Joan Lucey, owner of Vibes & Scribes said “At Vibes & Scribes we love how children’s books allow little boys and girls all over the world to use their imaginations and dream big. We hope this donation will bring a little bit of magic into the lives of the kids visiting The Mercy and make their stay a little easier.

Thanking Vibes & Scribes for their generous donation, Michelle Murphy, Corporate and Events Fundraiser, Mercy Hospital Foundation said “Our mission is to inspire people to support advancements in research, diagnosis, treatments and care of patients at The Mercy University Hospital, the People’s Hospital. We promise to do our very best to provide you with a world class hospital, right on your doorstep, and this is only possible through the help of our supporters and donors like Vibes & Scribes, who so generously donated this collection of children’s books, which I’m sure will bring smiles to little faces in St. Anne’s Ward for a long time to come.

Michelle continued “We would also like to thank the fairy tale characters from CADA Performing Arts who visited the little boys and girls in St. Anne’s Ward on World Book Night, they brought big smiles to everyone’s faces.” For more information on the Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal call (021) 4274076 or visit www.mercyfundraising.ie.
