Broadcaster Ivan Yates and TV3 presenters, Anna Daly and Glenda Gilson started the summer in style with Ireland’s favourite ice cream as they launched this year’s HB Hazelbrook Farm Ice Cream Fundays campaign in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI).

The trio were joined by Lacy O’Reilly (6) from Walkinstown, Dublin to celebrate the first annual Ice Cream Funday of 2016 to ask people across Ireland to take part and host their own celebration to help a worthy cause this May and June. Get involved by simply lo-calling 1890 37 37 37 or registering online at www.downsyndrome.ie to receive your party pack, which includes vouchers for delicious HB Hazelbrook Farm ice cream.

2016 marks the 90th anniversary of HB Hazelbrook Farm and its 15th year supporting the Ice Cream Funday campaign which has raised over €3 million for Down Syndrome Ireland. Last year 1,000 parties across Ireland saw a whopping 151,320 people participate and enjoy HB Hazelbrook Farm ice cream. The campaign is a vital source of funding for the development of Down Syndrome Ireland’s nationwide support services which helps their members, families and organisations. These support services are currently in huge demand and under resourced. The monies raised from the HB Hazelbrook Farm Fundays help to fund core services in the areas of Early Development, Education, Health, Speech and Language Therapy and Independence for members of DSI and the professional community connected by Down Syndrome.

Each and every ice cream party that takes place makes a real and lasting difference to people with Down Syndrome, ensuring the continued development of Down Syndrome Ireland’s essential work. Pat Clarke, Chief Executive of Down Syndrome Ireland said, “The HB Hazelbrook Farm Ice Cream Fundays campaign is a fantastic and fun way of raising funds for the organisation. The support from both HB and the public means that we can maintain a certain level and quality of essential services that we provide to our members”.

Speaking about the campaign, Cathal Murphy Brand Manager at HB Hazelbrook Farm said, “HB Hazelbrook Farm is celebrating its 90th year as Ireland’s favourite ice cream and is still made using fresh whole milk. The brand has been beloved by Irish families for generations and we’re proud that our involvement with the Ice Cream Fundays campaign has allowed us to support DSI, and the families they work with, for 15 years.’’
