The Trident Hotel in Kinsale was delighted to welcome a very special royal guest on Tuesday, May 30th. HRH The Duke of Kent stayed at the Trident while on a two day trip to Ireland. The hotel, which is located on the water’s edge overlooking Kinsale harbour, was delighted to be the hotel of choice for Prince Edward during his stay in Cork.

As President of the RNLI since 1969, HRH The Duke of Kent was in Kinsale to visit their town’s RNLI station, as well as visiting other RNLI Stations across Cork to meet the many volunteers who are dedicated to the charity that saves lives at sea, risking their own lives in the process.

Upon arriving to Kinsale by helicopter, Prince Edward made his way to the hotel which recently underwent a €1.5 million refurbishment. That evening, the royal visitor dined at a private dinner in the Trident Hotel’s Chart Room, overlooking the spectacular views of the harbour, where he and his guests enjoyed beautiful locally sourced produce that the hotel strives to use on a daily basis.

Hal McElroy, General Manager of the Trident Hotel stated, “We were delighted to welcome HRH The Duke of Kent to stay with us here at the Trident, and we are honoured he chose to stay with us during this Irish visit. With any high profile visitor there is always lots of excitement and a great atmosphere around the hotel; and like any other guest we welcome, we want to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.”

During his two day visit to Ireland, HRH The Duke of Kent also visited a number of other lifeboat stations in Tipperary, Clare and Kerry.
