2018 is the first year of the charity partnership between Pieta House and Flynn Hotels, who have hosted a number of fundraising events throughout the year across their four properties – The Imperial Hotel, Cork; Old Ground Hotel, Ennis; The Park Hotel, Dungarvan and Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny.

A highlight of the social calendar, the spectacular Black Tie Gala Ball at The Imperial Hotel saw supporters of Pieta House and friends of The Imperial come together to raise much needed funds for the very worthy cause. The evening began with a Taittinger Champagne reception, followed by a gourmet five course dinner and wine and an amazing lineup of live music performances throughout the evening.

The evening showcased the support Pieta House has from the people of Cork for the services and supports they provide for those experiencing suicidal ideation, people who have attempted suicide and people who are engaging in self-harm. The money raised from the Black Tie Gala Ball will go directly towards these support services, tackling the issue of suicide and self-harm in Cork and across Ireland.

Speaking about the successful partnership, Frits Potgieter, General Manager of The Imperial Hotel said “We are delighted to be able to support such a wonderful charity like Pieta House, and are honoured to have them as our charity partner for 2018. At The Imperial, we want to increase awareness around mental health issues and to raise funds for the crucial services that help those that need it most. The work that Pieta House is doing to help those in need of support as they go through such a difficult time in their lives is tremendous. We were thrilled to raise over €11,000 from our Gala Ball and I would like to thank our team here in the hotel, who supported the cause, as well as those who attended on the night

Darran Coyle Garde of Pieta House said “We cannot thank The Imperial Hotel enough for the support they have shown Pieta House this year. We are thrilled to see one of Cork’s finest hotels raise awareness and support from its customers and clients, bringing to their attention the work we do here at Pieta House. We rely entirely on voluntary donations to maintain and develop the services we provide to those affected by suicide, and we are very grateful and appreciative to the Flynn family, and especially to Frits Potgieter and all his team at The Imperial Hotel for their support.
