Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce along with the Kerry Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation warmly welcomes the decision by the Muckross Jarveys to suspend their protest at Muckross tomorrow Tuesday November 17th.  Muckross House and the National Park are hosting over 450 travel agents from DERTOURS, Germany's leading Travel Company.

Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce and the Kerry Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation have been in talks with the Muckross Jarveys over the last week in an effort to seek a resolution to the current impasse. Both organisations greatly appreciate the gesture being extended by the Jarveys and the parties have agreed to continued dialogue in an effort to seek a resolution to the issues.

Jaunting Car trips have been a unique and valuable part of the Killarney visitor product offering for well over a century and is part of what we are. In every promotional activity or publication, Killarney Chamber includes Jaunting Car Trips side by side with Lake Boat Trips and The Gap of Dunloe Day Trip as being key and unique reasons to visit Killarney and there is little doubt but that those participating see it as a special and enjoyable part of their Killarney experience.

The position of Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce is that a permanent solution has to be found to the soiling of the roadways within the Killarney National Park, so that this important and integral part of our tourism product can continue to attract and satisfy visitors to Killarney for many generations to come - but without the related negative issues.
