Singer Songwriter Mark Geary comes to Killarney

31 March 2010

In what promises to be an intimate gig not to be missed, Dublin Born Singer songwriter Mark Geary takes to the stage at the INEC Acoustic Club this Saturday 3rd April at 10.30pm.

Mark Geary emigrated to New York in 1992 with a lottery-won green card and gradually established himself as a singer-songwriter. Local press christened him the next big thing in a line of honest and personal songwriters who have made a mark on the music industry, including Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith.

Born into a large family with seven siblings, one of whom is actor Karl Geary, Geary has released a number of albums since 1999 and his music was also featured in the soundtrack of the recent movie The Breakup Artist. Mark is also currently working on composing the music for the film Sons of Perdition.

Like Beth Orton before him, Geary spices up traditional folk arrangements and instrumentation with bits of electronica in the open spaces and background of his music.

Mark Geary is really looking forward to playing in Killarney, "I've loved Kerry for so long now it's not even funny. Killarney and Dingle are magic as are the people, I love playing there. The way folks there engage with you and join in - amazing!"

The INEC show is in promotion of his latest live album 'Live Lost It /NYC' and tickets are on sale now (€12.50). For further details or to book, contact the INEC Box Office on 064-6671555.
