Network Cork to take Business Awards to New Heights!

14 April 2010

The Network Cork 2010 Women in Business Awards were launched today with the announcement of an exciting new venue for the Awards Ceremony - Vertigo at Cork County Hall.  The event which will take place on Friday 7th May will see over 100 business women gather to discover who will win the coveted title of Cork's Top Business Women of 2010.  MC and Awards Presenter will be TV Presenter Elaine Crowley.  Guest Speaker at the event will be another Cork born personality, Gerald Kean, one of Ireland's top solicitors and Editor of Kean Business, Media Partner of the Event.

The Network Business Awards, which is organised by Network Cork, part of a national organisation for women in business, profession and the arts, is one of the main highlights of the organisation's busy calendar.  This year's event promises to be a very special occasion, thanks to the unique location for the Business Awards Lunch and also the high calibre of guest speakers that have been secured.

Network President Sandra Maher stated "The opportunity of hosting the event in the spectacular Vertigo at the County Hall was brought to us by one of the event's sponsors Brook Catering and we jumped at the chance.  Where better to celebrate the great heights that Cork business women have achieved, than in one of the tallest venues in the country!  Also having Gerald Kean and Elaine Crowley participate adds so much more to the day.  Significantly they are both Cork born people who have reached the pinnacle of their professions and an inspiration to us all."

Sharon O'Donoghue, Sales & Marketing Manager of Brook Catering stated "The Network Business Awards are a great opportunity to showcase the spectacular venue that is Vertigo.  We were recently awarded the catering contract at County Hall and we are delighted to be able to host such a prestigious occasion, giving Cork's top business women a great day out as well as an opportunity to view one of Cork's most unique venues first hand."

Gerald Kean states, "I am delighted that Kean Business is the media partner for these awards and I am delighted to be part of a Network Women in Business event in Cork. I am looking forward to speaking at the event and wish everyone every success in the awards."

The Network Business Awards Co-ordinator, Audrey Burke McCarthy, who was also present at the announcement, added "This year is going to be one of our best years yet.  We have received a terrific response to the awards.  The feedback from previous winners on how the awards made a real difference to their business has had the effect of business women entering in record numbers.  We have had a record number of submissions from businesses throughout Cork and I just know that the judges are going to have a very tough task selecting this year's winners."

As well as receiving the prestigious award and the opportunity of representing Network Cork at the national level in October, the winners will also receive numerous prizes, most of which have been generously sponsored by Network Cork members including:

  • Bespoke Network Cork Business Awards Trophy
  • A business profile and advertising worth €1,500 sponsored by RSVP/Kean Business
  • Exclusive business/marketing/web optimisation mentoring from a panel of experts
  • Prestigious health spa vouchers
  • Business Portraits
